ECW Scholarships Awarded to Two West Tennessee Graduates
The Episcopal Churchwomen of the Diocese of West Tennessee are pleased to announce the winners of two 2015 West TN Diocesan ECW Scholarships. They are Natalie Dean and Steven Quach.
Natalie Dean, daughter of Margaret and Steve Dean, is a member of Church of the Holy Communion and a graduate of St. Mary’s Episcopal School. Natalie has been very active in her church as an acolyte, an active member of the EYC and a creator of new youth offerings at Holy Communion such as the Worship on Wednesday service. She also was a youth pilgrim on the Holy Communion trip to Spain and Portugal where she was able to witness Christianity in other countries. On the Diocesan level, Natalie has been a member of the Diocesan Youth Council as well as a camp counselor at the Episcopal Day Camp at St. Columba. She has participated in More than a Meal, Camp Gailor Maxon, Winterfest and Happening. Natalie will be attending the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. She plans on continuing her church activities by not only attending a local Episcopal Church but involving herself in the Episcopal Student Organization at the University.
Steven Quach, son of Kelly and Van Quach, is a member of the Church of the Holy Communion and a graduate of White Station High School. Steven has participated in many activities at Holy Communion including both Junior and Senior EYC and the Youth Task Force. Steven also helped to plan and is running the church’s newest ministry offering for the 4th and 5th grade youth. On the Diocesan level, Steven has participated in and helped staff several Happenings. He helped with the St. Columba Episcopal Day Camp, Winterfest and More than a Meal. Steven has demonstrated his leadership ability at by holding several leadership positions as an AJROTC cadet at White Station. He worked his way into becoming the Commander of the White Station Drill Team with direct responsibility for forty cadets. While maintaining 4.0 GPA, he has also participated in raising funds for disaster relief, collected canned goods for food banks and volunteered to do community clean-up projects. Steven will be attending the University of Memphis with plans to major in Pre-Med.
Both of these young people are a credit to their families, their Church and themselves. They have a deep and abiding faith which will continue to be a source of strength to them in the future. The Diocesan ECW wishes them all the best as they continue their education.
