One of our outreach projects for the Episcopal Church Women of West Tennessee has been to support the Community of St. Therese of Lisieux which is in midtown Memphis.
For many years the ECW of West Tennessee collected sheets and towels for women and families living in transitional housing. Helping the Community of Lisieux continued our tradition of assisting women who are homeless or in transition in their lives.
Our ECW of West Tennessee has a tradition of assisting women who are living in transitional housing. You can support the Lisieux community by donating new household goods, such as toilet paper, paper towels, coffee and personal items.
Your guild, Sunday School class or women's group can make an announcement one month, and then collect the items the next month. This is an easy way to support these women in their growth to an independent lifestyle. Contact Sandra Ferrell for more information.
Statement from Sandra Ferrell, Executive Director and Founder
The Lisieux Community provides housing and support for women who have survived trauma, addiction and life on the streets, all a part of prostitution. We teach community and connect the women to resources that provide healing and education for a new way of life. We are a sister organization to Magdalene, Inc in Nashville, TN, and are partnering with Thistle Farms to be the Face of Thistle Farms here in Memphis. If you wish to have a Thistle Farms party, please call 901-800-8840.

GARDEN DAY
AT ST. THERESE
The ECW of West Tennessee sponsored a Garden Day at St. Therese. We had a great time on September 27, 2014 the grounds of this new community of women in midtown Memphis. We pulled, pruned, planted and potted. We were able to work with the women who are living there. And we enjoyed a picnic!
About the Community of St. Therese of Lisieux.
The Community of St. Thesese of Lisieux is a new community of women in mid-town Memphis. This community is a sister community with Magdalene and Thistle Farms in Nashville, Tennessee, an established community and farm started by Becca Stevens. Both are communities of women who have survived lives of violence, prostitution and drug abuse.
St. Therese follows the same by-laws and program as laid out by the Magdalene Community. The founder of St. Therese, Sandra Ferrell, spoke at our Annual ECW of West Tennessee meeting on November 8, 2014 at Church of the Holy Communion. Click HERE for more information about our Annual Meeting.
